About US

Mission Statement

To provide a cost effective and efficient long distance, logistic service for our customers in the agricultural and manufacturing industries in Swaziland and to their customers based in Southern Africa. Thereby being their logistics service provider of choice.

The Name

Mother Truckers,a name with a difference – and a logo featuring warthogs running as a family with pride. The logo and phrase “others will follow” is descriptive of our objective for growth, our team values and of the pride we have for the service we know we can deliver!

THE GROUP BACKGROUND

Mother Truckers (Pty) Ltd was established in Swaziland in July 2002. Due to the transport services on offer in Swaziland at the time being relatively poor, it created the opportunity to establish a transport company with the objective of providing the best service, using a fleet of latest technology vehicles. This as well as the knowledge, expertise and experience of the founding members, would ensure outstanding levels of service.

To comply with various VAT legislation requirements and to facilitate transport services across the borders of Southern African countries, Gambell Transport(Pty)Ltd trading as Mother Truckers, was formed in South Africa. Mother Truckers owns all the shares in Gambell Transport.

Mother Truckers currently provides a comprehensive logistic support service to a number of companies in Swaziland, South Africa, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique and Botswana offering solutions using either their own state of the art Mercedes Benz Actros vehicles, or facilitating loads using reliable subcontractors.

Mother Truckers offers a “one stop shop “ service for meeting a company’s bulk logistical requirements and Ean, Ina, Estean, Wiehan Sauerman and their team ensure that they are available on a 24 hour a day basis to meet customers’ needs.

Our Fleet

Mother Truckers has acquired a fleet of Mercedes Benz 3348, 2648, 2650, 2654 and 2645N Actros trucks including the SA Truck Body “Super light Super link “, Afrit, PRBB, Trailord trailers and GRW Fuel Tankers. This includes flat deck and tautliner trailers. Given the configuration options, vehicles can load legally 34-ton payloads without use of any temporary leeway existing legislation being required. Mother Truckers has acquired the latest technology currently available, such as fully automatic transmissions, on board engine management systems and onboard cameras – all with the stated objective of providing an efficient, cost effective service to our clients. The vehicles are serviced and maintained by Mercedes Benz as well as our own workshop all in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications and therefore high levels of reliability are assured.

All vehicles are fitted with air suspension, which not only ensures driver comfort, but also more importantly reduces load damage.

Drivers are Mercedes Benz trained and are only employed once a rigorous training programme has been completed. Drivers performance is continuously monitored using tracking systems and management system reports.

Hazardous Transportation

Vehicles are also equipped for the transportation of hazardous products thus Hazchem certified. All drivers are Hazchem trained and certified on an annual basis

Vehicle Tracking

Load security is ensured through round the clock satellite tracking throughout Africa on both trucks and trailers. Given this day and age hijacking is a serious problem, our drivers are trained to avoid “hot spots” and all loads carried are insured against such eventualities.
We also have on all vehicles a Mercedes Benz fitted management control unit called Fleet board that is used to monitor drivers driving capabilities, thus getting the most out of our equipment.
The vehicle controllers and senior supervisory staff are on call 24 hours a day! Ensuring customer service and satisfaction – we are waiting for your call.

Clearing Agents

We are registered with both the South African Revenue Service (SARS) and Swaziland Revenue Authority (SRA) as a clearing agent. See attached Customs Code.

Warehouse

Mother Truckers offers a warehousing facility in Matsapha Swaziland where we can temporarily store product on behalf of customers.

Mother Cool(Pty)Ltd – Sister Company

Mother Cool is an air conditioning and refrigeration operation, specializing in installation and maintenance & repairs of refrigerated vehicles and cold rooms. Wiehan Sauerman is part of the technical team and is also a director.

Fuel Tankers

We identified a gap in the local market with regards to the transportation of bulk petroleum products by a locally registered company. In August 2022, we acquired two semi tankers as detailed below.

  • 2 tankers 2019 & 2021 models; purchased from GRW.
  • Both fitted with PTO pumps
  • Fitted with metering systems – Bartec & Sening
  • Truck tractors are fitted with camera systems as well as tracking
  • Each tanker has four compartments.
  • All have cross border permits for Mozambique
  • All tanker documentation – ie calibration/pressure testing, etc is valid
  • Two experienced dangerous goods drivers already in our employ together with experienced administration staff who have been in the fuel industry for +-15 years.

1. Overview Mother Truckers’ purpose for this ethics policy is to establish a culture of openness, trust and integrity in business practices. Effective ethics is a team effort involving the participation and support of every Mother Truckers employee. All employees should familiarize themselves with the ethics guidelines that follow this introduction.
2. Mother Truckers is committed to protecting employees, partners, vendors and the company from illegal or damaging actions by individuals, either knowingly or unknowingly. When Mother Truckers addresses issues proactively and uses correct judgment, it will help set us apart from competitors.
Mother Truckers will not tolerate any wrongdoing or impropriety at anytime. Mother Truckers will take the appropriate measures act quickly in correcting the issue if the ethical code is broken. Any infractions of this code of ethics will not be tolerated.
3. Purpose Ourpurpose for authoring a publication on ethics is to emphasize the employee’s and consumer’s expectation to be treated to fair business practices. This policy will serve to guide business behavior to ensure ethical conduct.
4. Scope This policy applies to employees, contractors, consultants, temporaries, and other workers at Mother Truckers, including all personnel affiliated with third parties.
5. Policy
5.1. Executive Commitment to Ethics
5.1.1. Senior management within Mother Truckers must set a prime example. In any business practice, honesty and integrity must be top priority for executives.
5.1.2. Executives must have an open door policy and welcome suggestions and concerns from employees. This will allow employees to feel comfortable discussing any issues and will alert executives to concerns within the work force.
5.1.3. Executives must disclose any conflict of interests regard their position within Mother Truckers.
5.2. Employee Commitment to Ethics
5.2.1. Mother Truckers employees will treat everyone fairly, have mutual respect, promote a team environment and avoid the intent and appearance of unethical or compromising practices.
5.2.2. Every employee needs to apply effort and intelligence in maintaining ethics value.
5.2.3. Employees must disclose any conflict of interests regard their position within Mother Truckers.
5.2.4. Employees will help Mother Truckers to increase customer and vendor satisfaction by providing quality product s and timely response to inquiries.
5.3. Company Awareness
5.3.1. Promotion of ethical conduct within interpersonal communications of employees will be rewarded.

5.4. Maintaining Ethical Practices
5.4.1. Mother Truckers will reinforce the importance of the integrity message and the tone will start at the top. Every employee, manager, director needs consistently maintain an ethical stance and support ethical behavior.
5.4.2. Employees at Mother Truckers should encourage open dialogue, get honest feedback and treat everyone fairly, with honesty and objectivity.
5.4.3. Mother Truckers has established a best practice disclosure committee to make sure the ethical code is delivered to all employees and that concerns regarding the code can be addressed.
5.5. Unethical Behavior
5.5.1. Mother Truckers will avoid the intent and appearance of unethical or compromising practice in relationships, actions and communications.
5.5.2. Mother Truckers will not tolerate harassment or discrimination.
5.5.3. Unauthorized use of company trade secrets & marketing, operational, personnel, financial, source code, & technical information integral to the success of our company will not be tolerated.
5.5.4. Mother Truckers will not permit impropriety at any time and we will act ethically and responsibly in accordance with laws.
5.5.5. Mother Truckers employees will not use corporate assets or business relationships for personal use or gain.
6. Enforcement
6.1. Any infractions of this code of ethics will not be tolerated and Mother Truckers will act quickly in correcting the issue if the ethical code is broken.
6.2. Any employee found to have violated this policy may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment

The Situation
Whilst in transit including loading and unloading anywhere in Swaziland, the Republic of South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique, Lesotho, Botswana and Zimbabwe.

Warranties
When vehicles are left unattended all doors, windows, and roof must be securely locked and properly fastened. All transporting vehicles and or trailers must be fitted with approved vehicle tracking and recovery systems.

First Amount Payable
Basic 10 % of Loss minimum E 5 000.00
In respect of hijack 20 % of Loss

Main Uninsured Events
1. Theft from any unattended vehicle in the custody or control of the insured or any employee unless all doors windows windscreens and roof are closed securely locked and properly fastened.
2. Inherent vice or defect, vermin, insects, damp or mildew.
3. Dishonesty of any partner and/or director or employee of the insured.
4. Detention or confiscation by customs or other officials or authorities.
5. Mechanical and/or electrical breakdown or derangement unless accompanied by physical damage.
6. Denting, chipping, scratching
7. Consequential loss of any kind, depreciation deterioration or changes brought about by natural causes

Gambell Transport Director

Inneke is in charge of the Gambell Transport office in RSA. She handles the admin, including; vehicle permits, licensing and general logistics.

Our hard working team

We have dedicated, committed and honest staff with Thembi Dlamini as the Office Manager and Emy Tan as our Accountant. We currently employ 32 drivers and about 25 general, workshop, admin and operational staff.
Marlee Graham, our operations assistant, has a long history in the transportation industry with extensive experience in fuel transportation while our fleet controller Joel Dlamini does an excellent job overseeing our drivers.
